The European Documentation Centre (EDC) of the University of Coimbra is a Centre of European Information, the first to be founded in Portugal, in 1974, under the statute conceded by the Commission of the European Communities to the Interdisciplinary Centre of Juridical-Economical Studies (CIEJE).
There are in Portugal 19 EDCs and about 390 in the European Union.
The main objective of this Centre is to support the University in the promotion and development of studies and researches concerning european matters. The EDC also provides a large range of information about the European Union and its policies, to the public in general.
There are available important documentary resources, in continuous growth, covering several european areas.
